Helen McCoy Dunlap

29 June 1918 - 9 July 2003

Helen McCoy Dunlap was born on June 29, 1918 in Braxton County, West Virginia. She was the third child of Charles and Myrta McCoy. After graduation from Burnsville High School in 1936 she continued her education at Mountain State Memorial School of Nursing in Charleston, and became a registered nurse. On March 18, 1944, she married Roderick O. Dunlap and after his return from overseas service in World War II, they lived in St.Albans. Their four children were Cindy, Dave, Doug, and Robin, and in 1959 the family moved to Teays Valley. Helen continued to work as a nurse after the children entered school, working last at the FMC chemical plant in South Charleston. In retirement, Helen enjoyed gardening, painting, golf, and travelling. She and Rod celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1994. Her death came after a long illness.

These are the simplest facts about Helen. The words do little to convey her special personality. The pictures tell a little more.
